Virgin America Simply Rocks
Blatant plug for Virgin America, simply because they deserve it. We are flying to JFK free of charge, they waved baggage fees, when the director realized that he had left his wallet in the car, they literally set up an employee chain that helped get it to him in time to make the flight, they announced us being on the flight and thanked us, they have offered us free food, drinks, and movies, and one of them just came up to me and mentioned that they throw all of the extra food out at the end of the flight and wondered if we would take it with us for the doctors or anyone else, which we will do. And to top it all off, i was mentioning about trying to get supplies down to St Damiens and they are looking into Virgin taking boxes for free for me from LA to fort lauderdale. Just unbelievable.
Shots Shots and More Shots
This morning I think what i am heading into set in a bit more as I got my shots for the trip. Measles, Mumps, Rubella, H1N1, Typhoid, Menengitis, Tetanus, both Heps (A and B) adn a few other things I've forgotten. Good times. My arm hurts like you wouldn't believe. As i was sitting in the office though they were explaining about all of the CDC warnings and it's pretty severe. Ive been crazy the last few days and have had little time to consider what we're heading into. As the packing and equipment frenzy ends, it's beginning to set in and a whole spectrum of emotions is coming up.

We're out of LAX tomorrow into JFK, then a shuttle to Newark and a 9 AM Partners in Health flight to Haiti.
Wild times

Heading to Haiti
I have put together this blog in haste as I am leaving shortly for Haiti to deliver supplies, film a documentary about Dr. Paul Farmer and Partners in Health, and help out wherever I can. I'll be there for about two weeks and am presently running on a mix of exhaustion from lack of sleep, adrenaline (which isn't helping the exhaustion by the way) and complete and utter disbelief at what has happened, what is happening, and what i am heading into. I recognize that I am not mentally prepared for this, and am concerned about that, but I think it's important thing to do and so i go. Off to pack, but hopefully I'll have time to write up more about the trip before I leave. Once I get to haiti it's anyone's guess as to whether or not I'll be able to post.
